Nokia X7

         Nokia X7
The Nokia X7 looks like being the next big launch for Nokia as we’ve just spotted that pre-order pages have gone live in Germany and Portugal. The 4-inch smartphone with Symbian Anna looks ready to rock the world. Join us after the jump for pricing and details on the Nokia X7 pre-order.

The Nokia X7 is quite unlike any other smartphone on the market today. The detailed and highly sculpted body is a world away from the simple boxes other vendors seem to be touting as cutting-edge, while the 4-inch AMOLED touchscreen with ClearBlack Display (CBD) has to be the best in class.

There has been a lot of debate about whether the Nokia X7 is the natural successor to the Nokia N8, but we like to look at it this way: The Nokia N8 is all about creating media, while the X Series in general and Nokia X7 in particular with its big screen is more about consuming media!

iPhone 5 Expected to Support GSM and CDMA

There are certainly many rumors circulating about Apple’s upcoming iPhone 5. With the recent partnership with Verizon, building in both GSM and CDMA support to the phones make a lot of sense.

The iPhone 5 is also expected to have an 8 megapixel camera and the same A5 processor as the iPad 2. But at this early point in the game, pretty much everything is a rumor.

Are you excited about the iPhone 5?

The release date is estimated to be around this Fall 2011.

HTC HD7S coming

HTC HD7S coming.....
AT&T will be expanding its Windows Phone 7 line with the large-screened HTC HD7S. The “S” in the name stands for S-LCD – the screen on AT&T’s HD7 model packs newer tech unlike the unbranded HD7, which uses regular TFT.
The HTC HD7S will hit AT&T’s shelves on 5 June – the Windows Phone 7.

For that kind of cash you can grab a cool Android or an iPhone 4, but you might want to hold off on that. The upcoming Mango update for Windows Phone 7 promises to make the OS so much more desirable.
You can sign up for email updates on AT&T’s site though you won’t miss much if you don’t – all you need to remember is HTC HD7S,

Next-gen iPhone to have a curved glass display?

As the WWDC comes closer and closer the rumor mill keeps churning details of the next-gen iPhone. This time we got word that the smartphone that will be named either iPhone 5 or iPhone 4S might have a curved glass display. The rumor was fueled by the reported purchase of between 200 and 300 glass-cutting machines by Apple.

The supposed reason behind this purchase is the fact that manufacturers are hesitant to purchase such machinery due to their high costs. The Cupertino-based company is said to be trying to speed up manufacturing of curved glass as it will be needing it for their next iPhone.

Currently the machines are being stored and will be assembled once yield rates for the production of curved glass reach a satisfactory level.

If this rumors turns out true the iPhone 4S will be Apple's second curved glass device, following the iPod Nano. In the smartphone world the curved glass debuted on the Samsung-made Google Nexus S.

There's still no word on the availability of the next iPhone or on when will it be announced or anything, really. But this is the Apple way of doing things and we'll just have to wait for it to be announced, or lost in a bar somewhere.

Nokia Oro announced: Symbian Anna inside and gold outside

Today Nokia unveiled their new premium handset dubbed Nokia Oro. The Symbian smartphone will offer a selection of exquisite materials for its exterior, including 18-carat gold plating, sapphire crystal and leather.
That's the second public appearance of the Nokia Oro, after it leaked a few weeks ago. The smartphone sports the latest Anna update of the Symbian operating system and a good set of connectivity options – microUSB, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and 3G with HSDPA. There’s also a sweet 3.5” ClearBlack AMOLED screen of nHD resolution on board.
Designwise the Nokia Oro is an exact copy of the C7 mass-market model, but Nokia has made sure that it won’t get mistaken for its mortal cousin. The company says that the build quality has been improved and the materials used are just screaming expensive.
The 18-carat gold plating used for the frame around the front panel, the keys and the part around the camera lens has been made scratch-resistant so it won’t lose its appeal over time. The leather used for the rest of the back panel is coming from premium Scottish stock and the home button is covered by real sapphire crystal, which is said to be 8 times tougher than glass.
If you fancy snatching a full-featured smartphone with looks that will clearly state your high social status, you will be able to get the Nokia Oro in Q3 of this year. Europe, China and the Middle East will be the first to get the handset, which will cost in excess of €800 before taxes and subsides.

Dual-SIM Nokia X1-01 and C2-00 go on sale, are pretty cheap

Yesterday, Nokia announced the availability of its first two handsets to feature two SIM card slots. The Nokia C2-00, which has been in development for over a year now and the Nokia X1-01, which was unveiled just the other day, are already on their way to retailers around the world.

Both of them are entry-level handsets with next to nonexistent functionality outside telephony and messaging, but they come at very attractive price points.

The Series 40-running Nokia C2-00 is the slightly better spec'd handset, adding hot-swap functionality for one its two simultaneously active SIM cards. This means that you could actually use that one will more than two SIMs relatively trouble-free if you need to.

The rest of the Nokia C2-00 specs sheet is not quite so spectacular, but the microSD card slot, the FM radio and the 3.5mm audio jack will probably earn it some popularity among music-loving teenagers and developing markets.

In fact the Nokia X1-01 seems to aim for the same thing with a roughly identical specs sheet. The only differences are the hot-swap SIM support, which has been dropped and the lower-end Series 30 interface, which has replaced the Series 40 UI in an effort to bring the price even further down. The camera has also been axed, but the X1-01 comes with a LED flashlight and dedicated music keys.

The pricing of the Nokia C2-00 is €45 before taxes and the X1-01 will go for €34. Knowing the carriers attitude towards dual-SIM phones you shouldn’t expect subsidized prices on those two, but then again hardly anyone will need them anyway.

This quarter will see the two feature phones go on sale India, China, South-East Asia/Pacific region, Middle East and Africa, Eurasia and Brazil.
